Welcome Message
On behalf of the Conference Committee, we would like to welcome you to the website for the 32nd Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBC´10) to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, from August 31 to September 4, 2010 at the Sheraton Buenos Aires Hotel & Convention Center.
For the first time, an IEEE EMBS Annual International Conference –the flagship of EMBS annual events– will be held in the southern hemisphere, representing a unique occasion for Argentineans to host colleagues from around the world.
A key role in the organization of the conference is exhibited not only by the EMBS Chapter of Argentina as the host and coordinator, but also by all other Latin American EMBS chapters and by the national societies of BME affiliated with the Latin American Regional Council on Biomedical Engineering, CORAL. Working toward the success of the conference has become a Latin American regional issue.
More than 3000 students and 500 biomedical engineers from academic, industrial and health care institutions of Argentina and neighbors Brazil, Chile and Uruguay benefiting from the local impact of the event, will be added to the regular international attendance to EMBS annual conferences, making EMBC´10 in Buenos Aires a major event.
The conference is hosted by Favaloro University, supported by the Favaloro Foundation, which was established in 1975 by Dr. Rene G. Favaloro on his return from the Cleveland Clinic, where he had worked for ten years and where he had developed the ´bypass´ or coronary artery bypass graft. This surgical technique radically changed the history of coronary disease. Among his medical students, Dr. Favaloro promoted the advocation of strong social and ethical values for the practicing health care professionals, including engineers. The general theme of the conference “Merging Medical Humanism and Technology” is a tribute to his ideas.
The conference program will consist of plenary lectures, symposia, workshops and invited sessions of the latest significant findings and developments in all the major fields of biomedical engineering. Submitted papers will be peer reviewed. Accepted high quality papers will be presented in oral and poster sessions, will appear in the Conference Proceedings and will be indexed in PubMed/MEDLINE.
We cordially invite you to participate in this exciting conference as organizers, exhibitors and/or presenters. We encourage you to share your R&D work with others by submitting a paper (up to 4 formatted pages) by April 1, 2010. If you are interested in organizing a session, you can contact the chairs of the theme that is most appropriate for your session. In case your organization is interested in our commercial and technical exhibition, you can find more information on how to reserve an exhibit booth on this website.
We greatly appreciate your interest in the EMBC'10. We look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to Buenos Aires and EMBC 2010.
Warmest regards,
